New page

<Fight>447126</fight>
Brian O’Shea starts an unwanted 30-day vacation today. O’Shea’s enforced vacationed followed being counted out in the third round of his fight with Johnny White at Wakota Arena Wednesday night. It was the lightweight’s second defeat in 23 bouts, and White was the spoiler each time. Physically fit, but coming in too fine at 133 pounds, O’Shea appeared to have left his fighting in the gym. His reactions were slow and his inability to protect against White’s nifty right hand started his downfall early. O’Shea was floored in the first round and was standing at seven when the round ended. He didn’t shake the effects of the first right hand by White and when he went down in the third it was the end. Referee Billy McCabe smartly counted out O’Shea at 1:10 while the lightweight was on his feet. It was apparent the ex-Chicagoan was in no condition to continue. The South Paul program was far from a financial success. Only 536 fans, who paid $970.60, were around. [By Bill Hengen, Minneapolis Star, Staff writer]
