	Holly Mims, 157, cruelly beat his huskier opponent, Jose Basora, 167, for eight one-sided rounds. Referee Dave Beloff stopped the fight, scheduled for ten, after the eighth round when Whitey Bimstein, chief second for Basora, announced the old Senor from San Juan could go no farther. As early as the first round, Mims demonstrated that Basora's superior size and poundage would be no help to him. Mims dropped the plodding Basora for an eight count in the first round with a blistering left hook and a right to the head. Through the fourth, fifth, and sixth, Holly's straight rights to the jaw had Basora tipsy, and Basora's right eye was moused in the fifth, then cut and closed to a mere slit. Basora was cut to proverbial red ribbons in the seventh and eighth when Mims brought up cuffing rights on the inside. Basora's plight was beyond hope, so his cornerman asked for the cease-fire.
