"The programme was marred to some extent by the demonstration over the decision in the bout between Harry Hill, an English fighter, and Marty Gold, of New York. This was given as a draw, and the majority of the crowd loudly expressed the opinion that Hill had won. In the early stages Gold held the edge, but Hill rallied in the closing moments of the third round and came back in the fourth and fifth to more than even up the count. In the sixth, seventh and eighth rounds, Hill held any edge to be claimed. The decision came as a surprise and the crowd gathered around the officials demanding to see the slips that had been handed to the members of the athletic commission.
