After decisively losing the second round, Renault was knocked down by an overhand shot to the back of the head. Renault complained of a foul, which was disallowed, and rose at the count of three. Renault was knocked down for a third time in the 4th round. In the 6th round, Renault staggered Hawkins twice with rights to the head. The bout was largely even the rest of the way.
