	"Welterweight contender Hedgemon Lewis, 145, Detroit, made his first appearance in the Motor City in more than two years. A poor crowd of 2,200 at the Olympia turned out to see him beat Don Cobbs, 145, St. Louis. The first five of the 10 rounds were all Lewis. His boxing and punching thrilled the fans. However, Cobbs rallied in the 6th frame. Both landed hard shots in a round that appeared even. Round seven was in Cobbs' favor by a shade as Lewis suffered an eye cut. In an exciting 8th Lewis landed with lefts but Cobbs fought back and landed more often.
