	Lindsey was the first black named bailiff in Akron Municipal Court. Lindsey was also the president of the Akron chapter of the NAACP. Lindsey also worked as an investigator for a prominent Washington lawyer, became a full-time police officer, and after a medical retirement he worked as a real estate agent, until shortly before his death. 			Lindsey's brother Carl was also boxer under the name [[Sammy Harris (Akron, OH)\|Sammy Harris]]. Harris died of injuries sustained in a 1931 bout in Johnstown, PA.
