	Corrie Sanders was a former WBO heavyweight champion. Boxing fans largely consider him to be one of the hardest punchers of the of his era. Corrie Sanders began his career in the 90's. He won his first 12 fights but lost by a 2nd round KO to Nate Tubbs. Corrie would move forward with his career and racked up several more victotories. In 1994, Corrie Sanders was set to fight Moorer for the WBO heavyweight championship. However, due to the fact that Moorer lost he never recieved his title shot. Most boxers did not want to fight Corrie Sanders because he was considered a "high risk, low reward" type fighter.

	He fought on many smaller cards and admitted it was difficult to get fights. In May 2000, it looked like Sanders would get his big break by fighting Hasim Rahman, a rising heavyweight contender and a top ranked fighter in the big three title belts. Sanders knocked down Rahman in the 2nd round and had him hurt, Rahman did however come back and finish Sanders in the 7th round. Later Rahman admitted "I've never been hit like that in my life".

	After this loss Sanders briefly retired. He thought that no one would want to fight him now at all. He did continue to fight however just to make some money on the side. He was a wealthy buisnessman and a very succesful boxer but was also fighting for pure love of the sport.

	In early 2003, Corrie Sanders recieved a call to fight Wladamir Klitschko on short notice. Over 10 heavyweights had rejected the oppurtunity to fight Klitschko and Sanders immediatly jumped at the oppurtunity. Sanders was seen as a huge underdog before the fight due to his lack of experience at the world level and due to the fact that Vlad at this time was 40-1 and was seen as the heir apparent to Lennox Lewis.

	In the first round of the fight Sanders had Wladamir down twice adn nearly finished him in the first round. In the 2nd round Corrie finished Wlad for good. Corrie's left hand was simply too fast and too strong for Klitschko to elude. Corrie had finally captired his dream of winning the heavyweight title.

	Following this fight, Corrie was supposed to have a bout againt Lamon Brewster, the WBO no. 1 heavyweight contender. Sanders however refused and wanted a big money fight. Sanders was offered a shot at Roy Jones, for a WBA-WBO heavyweight unification but the WBO threatened to strip Sanders if he did this because roy was not in the top 10 of the WBO ratings. Sanders finally decided to relinquish the heavyweight title after it was found out the Lennox Lewis was retiring and that the WBC would make him theier number one contender to fight for theier championship.
