Jack Reddick, Canada's knockout king, stopped Billy Harms, Everett, Washington, champion of the Pacific Northwest, in he fifth round of their 15-round bout to defend his middleweight title.

Harms, who dropped under the force of a terrific right to the body, appealed for a foul after he had been counted out.

Chief Long Lance, referee, could see no foul blow and tolled off the fatal ten while Harms lay doubled up on the canvas. Immediately afterwards, the appealing fighter was examined by the boxing commission's medical representative, who found no evidence of a low punch. It was then announced that the fight went to Reddick as a clean-cut knockout.

Harms, who weighed in at 157, was taller but much less rugged than the champion. Reddick failed to make weight and lost a $25 forfeit when he tipped the beam at 162. Jarvis, his manager, agreed that the title was at stake.

For three rounds, Harms was able to maintain a whirlwind pace that allowed him to earn an even break. Reddick let him do all of the work, while he moved half the distance and waited his chance. Harms pulled over swinging lefts and a few rights, but took as much from Jack's left and hammering right.

It looked like the end in the fourth, when Reddick pushed his man to the ropes and banged his right to to the chin. Harms took a lacing for the rest of the round, but his footwork saved him.
