"Jerry Quarry, a 20 year old from Los Angeles, decked Tony Alongi, 26, of Paterson, N.J., with a left hook to the jaw in the 7th round but had to settle for a draw in a controversial, lively scrap marred by Jerry's claims of foul. Twice in the 6th round Quarry dropped his hands and grimaced after being hit in the body, indicating he was hit low. Then, in the same round, he dropped to his knees after being hit another shot to the body. He complained to the referee. He didn't rule it a knockdown. In the 7th, referee Arthur Mercante warned Alongi for a low blow but he also ordered Quarry to lower his trunks a bit." -Associated Press
