Armstead ridiculed one of the all-time masters of the ring by taking a lopsided, unanimous decision from former world lightweight champion Joe Brown. Any ideas 'Old Bones' might have entertained about getting a shot at world lightweight champ Carlos Ortiz were erased by the constant staccato pf Armstead's left jabs on his aged countenance. Brown's timing was off, and he never seemed able to untrack himself. The 38-year-old battler couldn't have thrown his vaunted right hand more than ten times during the fight. Brown's best showing came midway through the 9th round when he ripped Armstead's jaw with a left hook and then followed with a solid right cross which made the winner grab and hold on.
