	Joe Matone was born Carmine Baglino in 1923. His mother - Autelia, and father - Michael, were recent immigrants from Naples, Italy. A native of Brooklyn, N. Y., he began his boxing career in the early 1940s until his last bout in 1944. Upon receiving injury during that bout, Matone was rushed to a hospital where he emerged partially paralyzed thus ending his carrer.
