Duran looked his best during the middle rounds, scoring with right uppercuts as Pritchett came forward. But the Briton fought a determined battle with effective punching. From the 8th round, Pritchett took command. His hooks from both hands landed on the head of Duran, and it appeared that a new European champion was to be crowned. The 13th round, in slow motion, clearly showed that Pritchett was not to blame for the premature ending. *Ring Magazine's British correspondent, Johnny Sharpe, stated that after the clash of heads, the referee ordered both boxers to 'box on', but Duran refused to continue. The referee then brought Duran to the corner for a doctor's inspection and the doctor stated that the damage was too bad for Duran to continue. However, the referee then disqualified Pritchett for butting. Sharpe and European correspondent Jack Tree both stated Pritchett should have been awarded the bout once Duran refused to continue.</div>Flatnose
