Gavilan, weighing 151 to 146 for Byars, was 2-1 favorite for the bout, and Referee Frank Sikora, and both judges Howard Walh and Spike McDam, all gave him the same margin 47-45. Byars, though, may have hurt his own fight by getting mad. Gavilan was warned twice about low blows as well as holding and hitting, but in the sixth round Byars complained to Sikora and obviously was furious about the ~~Cuban�s~~ tactics.
