	Bauman was a prolific referee based out of Cincinnati during the first-half of the 20th century. Bauman worked primarily out of Cincinnati, and other nearby cities such as Fort Thomas and Covington in Kentucky ~~and Middletown, Ohio; though he~~ worked in other cities in Ohio as well. Bauman reportedly worked as a referee on every single bout in Cincinnati in 1922, and by the time he approached retirement from officiating in 1941, he was claiming to have worked 15,000 bouts. Bauman also worked at the Cincinnati Paper & Cordage Company, which he did until his death at 68 years of age.
