			"Pedro Carrasco, Spain, retained his European lightweight crown against fellow countryman Miguel Velasquez, in 15 rounds. The challenger bled badly from a cut above the eye which proved to be a severe handicap. It was a great battle for the 16,000 in the Sport Palast. In frame 10 Carrasco bled from the nose and in 11 Velasquez's left eyebrow was cut. The injury was inspected in frame 13 but the bout was allowed to go on. Velasquez, who had won 34 fights, 20 inside the distance, and was rated by some as capable of dethroning the champion, did well in the first half of the battle but tired under Pedro's terrific onslaught." -Ring Magazine, October, 1969 issue
