Over the next ~~year and-a-half~~, Rocco successfully defended his title 3 times before losing to [[Maurice Hope]] by a Technical Knock-Out.		In 1973 he won the Australian Welterweight Title from [[Jeff White]], after years of various results Rocco stood tall. On 6 August 1977 in Berlin, Rocco Knocked-Out [[Eckhard Dagge]] and by doing so claimed the [[World Boxing Council]] (WBC) Light Middleweight Title. Over the next 2 years, Rocco successfully defended his title 2 times before losing to [[Maurice Hope]] by a Technical Knock-Out in his 3rd defense. He tried to regain the title in a rematch with Hope in July of 1980, but he was stopped in the 11th round.

	Rocco Mattioli's professional career spanned 74 fights; 65 wins (52 KO's) 7 loses and 2 draws. He was inducted into the [[Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame]] in October 2004.
