The crowd of 8,000 was largely pro-Olivares and erupted with a bottle-and-chair-throwing demonstration when it was obvious Kotey had won even though the decision never was formally announced in the ring. Kotey knocked Olivares down with a left hook in the 1st round and the Mexican suffered a cut over his left eye from a butt in the 12th round of a battle that went the full 15.
