According to an article in the ''St. Louis Post-Dispatch'' (4-16-30, p. 20), the main event boxers scheduled for this card, Otto Von Porat and Jack De Mane, were to be paid a percentage of the show's gross receipts. However, this bout did not take place. Seeing a small crowd in the arena, De Mane refused to fight and was subsequently suspended for a year by the Missouri commission. Promoter Brooklyn Tommy Sullivan later estimated that about 1100 spectators had paid about $1600, and the commission ordered a refund for the fans in attendance. In addition to the three undercard bouts that did take place, there was a "battle royal" involving five black boxers, won by Ralph Long.
