Holmes KO’s Ellis!
By "KO" Ken Caro FightNews Friday, April 30 2004
Unbeaten heavyweight Donnell “The Real Touch of Sleep” Holmes scored an impressive knockout
over the very game Cornellis Ellis in the 6th round at the Plex in Charleston S.C. Holmes looked like
a fine tuned sports car, coming out, feeling out his opponent and then, kicking it into high gear. Ellis
was no slouch throughout the fight, he scored very clean shots to the body and head that seemed to
stun more than hurt Holmes. The first two rounds were just about even then in the third Ellis had a
point taken for repeated low blows. Holmes was steady throughout the fourth and fifth and was
gaining ground on Ellis, who seemed to be sucking wind. Holmes came out in the sixth looking like a
man on a mission. You could actually see the fire in his eyes as he stood from his stool to answer the
bell. Ellis was just about out on his feet, Holmes landed a combo right out of the play book, left-
right-left and Ellis was unconscious before his head bounced off of the bottom rope. Holmes, who
recently signed with DKP, moves to 12-0. (More to come)
