It was evident from the tyre around his waist that he planned only to survive the&lt;br&gt;eight rounds in what became a glorified sparring session.&lt;br&gt;<br /> Venter, 8-0 (3), boxed from behind his left jab and soon reddened the face of the visitor who was&lt;br&gt;unable top get past his opponent&#039;s long reach.&lt;br&gt;<br /> From round five Rojas began to tire and resorted to holding and leaning on his opponent. He was&lt;br&gt;lucky not to have a point deducted by referee Jaap van Niewenhuizen, who handled the rough tactics&lt;br&gt;of the visitor well.&lt;br&gt; <br /> In round six Venter dropped Rojas with a straight right to the jaw, but he managed to beat the count&lt;br&gt;and mauled his way to the final bell.&lt;br&gt; <br /> Judges Joe Horn, Len Hunt and Wally Snowball all scored the fight 80-71.&lt;br&gt;<br /> Other results: Bantamweight: Sipho Silwane beat Charles Golulu, tko 1; Welter: George Mapalakane&lt;br&gt;bt Gordon Mofolo, pts 6; Junior bantam: Evans Mbamba bt Simphiwe Khumalo, pts 6; Light:&lt;br&gt;Gabriel Phakula bt David Shabangu, pts 6; Light heavy: Rudy Bruwer bt Daniel Ngobeni, tko 1.</div>
