Spivey decisions Salka to retain NABA title
Queen of Atlantic City Boxing, Diane Lee Fischer Cristiano, promoted her 23rd card
in the east coast gaming capital last evening at the Tropicana Casino Resort.
The same showroom that held her very first card fifteen years ago, was
the scene for what was another outstanding night of boxing and entertainment.

In the main event, Virginia Beach, VA's "Dangerous" Dorin Spivey (42-6, 30 KOs)
withstood a tough test from Bunola, PA's "Lightening" Rod Salka (16-2, 3 KOs)
in a entertaining 10 round clash for Spivey's NABA lightweight belt.

Spivey started quick and was in control early on, continually firing rapid
combinations and moving forward, as he racked up rounds on the judges scorecards.
Salka was able to hang in there however, and in the 8th round he landed the best
punch of the night, a lead left hook that momentarily buckled Spivey's knees.

Going into the tenth and final round, with Salka sensing he was down on the judges'
cards, he went after Spivey trying to get a knockout. Instead of running, Spivey
held his ground and the final bell tolled with the two men trading power shots in
the center of the ring, much to the crowds delight. In the end, the judges awarded
Spivey the majority decision victory with scores of 97-93, 96-94, and 95-95.

Atlantic city's own, Antowyan Aikens (6-0, 1 KO) stayed perfect by roughing up Akron,
OH's Steven Tyner (3-7, 2 KOs) in a six round middleweight clash. After displaying a
crisp jab and sound footwork in the early going, Aikens changed his strategy in the
fourth and sat down more on his punches. Aikens was successful in employing both pure
boxer mode and boxer-puncher mode as took the decision 59-55 on all three judges scorecards.

Norfolk, VA's Frankie Filippone (10-2, 2 KOs) won a unanimous decison over Brooklyn, NY's
Reggie La Crete (4-2, 3 KOs) in a six round light-heavyweight bout. The soutpaw Filippone
flummoxed his hard punching foe by being quicker with both his hands and his feet, never
letting the Brooklynite set his feet for the KO punch hes was looking for. All three judges
saw it 59-55 for Filippone.

Heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell (8-0, 4 KOs), also from Norfolk, pummeled Shun Lewis into
submission 2:12 into the forth of their scheduled six round scrap. After being floored,
Lewis began to complain of an elbow injury and was unable to continue.
