			Robles remains undefeated in San Diego

			A great night of boxing Friday night at the home for professional boxing in San Diego,
			the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley where California Hall of Fame promoter Bobby D.
			Presents put on yet another fight card in 2014 with “San Diego Fights: Back in Business”.
			A star-studded audience including the great James Toney, former St. Louis Cardinal Vince
			Coleman and former champ Steve Forbes among the San Diego faithful to witness undefeated
			Emmanuel “Renegade” Robles (12-0-1, 3KO) remain so against Carlos “Guerrero” Valenzuela
			(6-2, 3KO) in the main event junior welterweight four rounder.
			The fight marked the first time Robles of San Diego fought in his hometown of San Diego
			since last February when he captured the interim WBC Latino junior welterweight title
			with a surprise win over Olympian Yordenis Ugas. In his last fight last summer Robles
			traveled north to San Francisco to upset local Jonathan Chicas with an eight round split
			decision live on Fox Sports 1.
			After a rousing welcome from his followers in his way to the ring, the southpaw Robles
			got to work in the first round as Valenzuela of Phoenix, AZ, by way of Ciudad Obregon,
			Mexico, began to dance around the ring. Robles kept his distance and looked to establish
			his jab. Valenzuela rushed in aggressively but Robles was able to catch him coming in
			with a solid uppercut then followed with a straight left that stumbled Valenzuela.
			Early in the second a straight left hurt Valenzuela enough to go down and touch his
			glove to the canvas. Valenzuela shot up right away and Robles came right after him trying
			to finish. Referee Pat Russell quickly jumped in between and administered an eight count
			to Valenzuela as he correctly ruled it a knockdown.
			By the fourth Robles continued to control the action with good combinations including
			uppercuts and hooks but Valenzuela was still giving a good account of himself despite a
			large mouse developing under his right eye. Valenzuela was able to stay active all the
			way to the final bell while they gave the crowd what they wanted and that is action.
			Robles was just too slick and experienced for the game Valenzuela. After the six rounds,
			judges Jose Cobian and Alejandro Rochin saw it 60-53 each while Fritz Werner scored it
			59-54, all for Robles with the unanimous decision. “I am happy I got the rounds, I was a
			bit disappointed I couldn’t knock him out but I realized I need to work on some things,”
			Robles said after the fight. “I’m looking forward to 2015, I expect big things in the
			incoming year.”
			Kucher Stops Brown
			In the semi main event, WBC ranked #7 cruiserweight Dmytro Kucher (22-1, 16KO) of Kiev,
			Ukraine, scored another knock out win, this time over awkward veteran Galen “Bad Boy”
			Brown (42-29-1, 25KO) of St. Louis, MO, who retired at the end of the 4th of a scheduled
			eight at the suggestion of the referee. The thirty year-old Kucher, who had not fought
			since July of last year began rather slow while let Brown move around the ring. Near the
			end of the first Kucher landed a flush right hand but Brown only shook his head. Brown
			was actually the more active of the two in the first couple of rounds as Kucher shook
			off the ring rust but in the third he began to score much more often while Brown began
			to breath from his mouth. Huge clubbing right hands while Brown was against the ropes
			began to slow down Brown. Kucher really brought the heat in the fourth, as Brown didn’t
			have anything in his arsenal to keep him at bay but just too stay on his feet. At the
			end, referee Jose Cobian decided to stop the fight. Official time was the 3-minute mark
			of the fourth round.
			Delgadillo Gets Past Najera In Border War
			In an all-action heavyweight four rounder, San Diego’s Joe “The Bull” Delgadillo (2-0,
			1KO) remained undefeated as he survived a bloody nose and a gash outside his right eye
			to get a unanimous decision over Tijuana tough man Edgar “Porky” Najera (0-4). After a
			left hook that dropped Najera down in the first round, it seemed to wake up the Tijuana
			fighter and he began to counter Delgadillo with a quick left hook, which caused the cut
			and the bloody nose. Despite being in Delgadillo’s hometown of San Diego, the crowd
			quickly got behind the underdog Najera, chanting Porky, Porky edging on the shorter
			fighter. “Porky” came coming but the taller Delgadillo was able to score some long shots
			that would slow him down in spots. After four high-spirited rounds, all three judges saw
			it for Delgadillo with scores of 39-36 twice and 38-37.
			Lybarger Bets Badry
			Moonlighting MMA fighter Jillian Lybarger (1-1) dropped Canada’s Brandy Badry (1-5) on
			her way to a unanimous decision in a female light welterweight four. Lybarger, only in
			her second fight as a boxer was raw but aggressive as she controlled the action with
			sheer aggression. The taller Badry was hesitant in throwing punches but Lybarger wasn’t
			as she reached up and tagged Badry with a good number of right hands.
			Things got a bit dirty half way through the fight as Badry began to hold and throw
			punches in clinches and at the break. Referee Jose Cobian warned her but in the fourth
			had to take a point away. Badry kept coming after her and in the last seconds of the
			fight scored a huge straight right hand that dropped Badry to the canvas. The bell rang
			and Badry beat the count but the damage was done. The scores were 39-35 twice and 38-36,
			all for Lybarger.
			Dogboe Finishes Rodriguez
			In an exciting lightweight scheduled four rounder, natural featherweight and 2012
			Olympian Isaac Dogboe (3-0, 2KO) scored an impressive second round knockout over the
			game but overmatched Ronald “Loco” Rodriguez (1-5, 1KO) of Pomona, CA, by way of
			Guatemala. Rodriguez began the fight mobile enough as he moved around the perimeter of
			the ring while the shorter Dogboe stalked him against the ropes. Once there Dogboe, who
			is from Accra, Ghana, went to work to the body with hard hooks to either side of his
			opponents torso. After a half a round, Rodriguez began to stand in front of Dogboe more
			and that only gave the African to score hard and more accurate punches. The second was
			much more of the same except Rodriguez was receiving even more punishment and while he
			had his back to the ropes Dogboe scored with a right on left hook to the face that
			stumbled Rodriguez back. Referee Pat Russell had seen enough and pulled the plug.
			Official time was 2:24 of the second.
