	Anthony John DiBiase, Jr., was born in Astoria, Queens, NY, on January 16, 1936. He was one of three brothers. He began amateur competition in 1952, and lost only one contest in 36--to [[Leroy Oliphant]], whom he later twice defeated. That year he won the sub-novice 147-pound [[Golden Gloves]] title and the Metropolitan (open) welterweight title. In 1953 he captured the New York Eastern and [[National Golden Gloves]] championship, and in 1955 the NCAA 156-pound title.

	'''Tony DiBiase''' won the 1952 147lb New York Daily News Golden Gloves sub-novice championship, DiBiase KO'd Charles Morgan of the Police Athletic League in the first round of the finals. In 1953 DiBiase stopped (RSC-2) Howard Speller of the Salem Crescent Athletic Club in the finals to win the New York Daily News Golden Gloves open championship at 147lb. DiBiase trained at the Police Athletic League. In 1953 he also won the New York Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at 147lb by decision vs. Leon McCollins and the Intercity Golden Gloves Championship at 147lb by decision vs. Richard Wall.

			In 1952 he won the 1952 novice New York Daily News Golden Gloves' championship at welterweight, by ko vs. [[Charles Morgan]] of the Police Athletic League in the 1st round.
