	"Tony Petronelli, 140, East Bridgewater, successfully defended New England junior Welterweight title by scoring a tenth round TKO over Luis Davila, 135 ½, Hartford, the New England lightweight king. Davila had proven to be a real threat to Tony’s crown. During the middle rounds he repeatedly beat the champ to the punch and cut his left eye in the sixth round. With shocking suddenness a long fast right put Davila on the canvas obviously out. He was saved by the bell and dragged to his corner by his handlers. Davila fell flat on his face as he came out for the tenth round and Referee called a halt. Davila’s handlers insisted he had slipped on ice used to revive him. A conference with the boxing commission gave the Puerto Rican native a longer opportunity to recover. Davila came out for the tenth round but Tony was not to be denied and soon had Davila heading for the canvas again. Referee Flaherty stepped in and stopped the bout."
