A partisan crowd of about 9,000 cheered Sibson to victory over the No. 1 ranked contender. Davison's counter-punching seemed to have made it a close affair, but Sibson's tremendous aggression left the judges in no doubt. Sibson took the initiative early, hooking fiercely at every opportunity. Sibson looked strong throughout, although Davison had a good 10th round, highlighted by a pile-driver left-hander, which visibly shook Sibson." -United Press International
