The University of Washington Suzzallo Library has a nice collection of microfilm of newspapers from throughout the world. Plus I have researched the Tacoma and Everett papers from about 1906 to 1950. I also went to the Bellingham Public Library two or three times to research Freddie Steele's early fights, and came across his fights with Jimmy. All this time I have tried to jot down factoids as I come across them, such as I did for Jimmy, and print out newspaper photos.
