<p></p> <p><b>New page</b></p><div>According to the Oct. 15, 1919 &#039;&#039;Tacoma News Tribune&#039;&#039; (Tacoma, WA, USA), former Hoquiam, Washington amateur boxer &#039;&#039;&#039;William Daniels&#039;&#039;&#039; had served in World War I as a United States Marine. He was then in the Philippine Islands, and was returning to attend the Corvalis, Oregon, Agricultural College. He had been a field warden at Cavite Naval Prison Station. He had knocked out African-American boxer [[Joe McCarty]] in five rounds (of a scheduled ten-rounder) in an amateur bout.
