According to the December 30, 1924 Idaho Statesman, Rockson began boxing as Nick Rockson in Boise, before using the name Mickey Rockson when he began boxing on the Pacific Coast.
By the early 1930s, Mickey Rockson was a manager in the Portland, Oregon area. His stable included Denny Lenhart, Eddie Volk, and Young George Dixon, among others.
According to Jimmy Darcy's bio, Rockson was blinded later in life when a man threw acid in his eyes after he talked with his girl. Reports in the Portland Oregonian, circa 1936, indicate that he was attempting to undergo an operation to restore his sight. According to reports in the Portland Oregonian of 1930-31, he was operating Mickey Rockson's gym in Portland.
Birth and death date come from a Nick Rockson of Boise, Idaho. He purportedly was of Croatian descent, having been born in the former Austria-Hungary.
