  • Cotton went 2-2 against future world middleweight champion Joey Giardello in 1956. All four fights went the scheduled distance of 10 rounds.
  • The July 1970 issue of The Ring reported: "Alex (Scotty) Mack, the undefeated light heavyweight of Danbury, Conn., now based in Houston, made short work of veteran Charlie Cotton. Mack looked sharp in kayoing the 170-pound Cotton in round two." However, the fight is not listed by BoxRec.
