Joe 'Baby Face' Mesi won his thirty-fifth consecutive bout, a first round stoppage of Ron Johnson (a last minute substitute for the scheduled Marvin Hill). Mesi attacked with left hand leads, left right combinations, and left hooks. Johnson, once a welterweight, was knocked down twice and offered little resistance until the referee stopped the bout after the second knockdown at 1:45 of the first.
