"In another bout on the card at the Showboat Hotel, undefeated Robin Blake of Levelland, Texas, stopped Tony Baltazar of La Puente, Calif., at 1:14 into the 9th round of their scheduled 10 round lightweight match. Baltazar suffered a deep gash across the right eyelid in the 3rd round which bled until the fight was stopped. The 5'11" Blake, a left-hander, used his reach advantage by peppering the head of the 5'6" Baltazar. Baltazar hurt Blake at the end of the 7th round but the Texan was saved by the bell. Then Blake took the initiative again, dropping Baltazar at the end of the 8th with a right-left-right combination to the head. A 12 punch salvo to the head floored Baltazar early in the 9th and when a right-left decked him again, referee Davey Pearl stopped the fight." -Press Dispatches
