Both the Lancaster New Era and Lancaster News Journal, felt a competitive bout was spoiled in the 4th round, when Tendler opened up a bad cut over Droney's left eye. The two had fought an even first round, with Droney winning the 2nd round, and Tendler dishing out punishment in the 3rd round. Early in the 4th round, Tendler opened up the bad cut, and the bout turned into a sparring session for both, as the cut bled badly; leaving Droney unable to see, as Tendler took it easy on his injured foe.
