"Old pro Carmen Basilio sharpened up for a middleweight title shot next month by taking a unanimous decision from Don Jordan Saturday in a nationally televised 10 rounder between the two ex-champs. Basilio methodically belted away at his slimmer foe with flurries of rights and lefts and dominated the fight. There were no knockdowns. Basilio, his nose and lips bloodied by Jordan jabs, forced the fight most of the way, scoring heavily in the early rounds with a right uppercut." -Associated Press
