  • Shumenov appeared to slightly outwork Flores over 12 rounds, who had the clear edge on power punches landed. Shumenov complained early in the bout to the referee Flores was hitting him behind the head in clinches, but there was no point deduction. Flores greatest enemy was not his preparations, as the ring commentators noted, it was fellow commentator Flores ring inactivity in recent years preceding this interim WBA world cruiserweight title bout. Flores won the 12th as Shumenov ran away.
