The Providence Journal reported that Marciano won all but the second and eighth rounds. Marciano tagged Mogard with a succession left hooks to the bod and head in the bout, but was unable to knockdown Mogard. Marciano was less effective with his right hand, missing with or landing ineffectively. Mogard was defensive in the bout, but did draw blood from Marciano's nose in the 3rd round, and raised a mouse under his left eye in the 7th round.
