After two slow rounds to start the bout, Weekly hurt Berlier with a right hand to the body. Berlier responded by engaging Weekly, and after some infighting between the two, Weekly landed a right hand to the jaw that floored Berlier. Berlier struggled to make it up at the count of nine, but fell back to the canvas as the count of ten was reached. The bell to end the 3rd round rang right after Berlier was counted out, which added to the confusion over whether Berlier had been knocked out.
