Except for the tragic ending, the meeting of Roger Donoghue, 152 ½, Yonkers, and Georgie Flores, 151, East Side, was practically a punch-for-punch replica of their brawling affair in White Plains two weeks previously. Both boys weathered lusty punishment, but again, it was Donoghue who survived the slam-banging in better condition. The eighth and final round had hardly started when the Yonkers youngster crashed a left hook that sent Flores toppling backward for the fatal count. Time of round was 46 seconds. [TR November 1951]
