Willie Pep 127 lbs beat Charley Cabey Lewis 128 lbs by TKO at 1:52 in round 8 of 10

• Date: 1944-09-19
• Location: Auditorium Outdoor Arena, Hartford, Connecticut, USA
• Referee: Bill Conway

Lewis landed a hard right to the chin of Pep, in a highly competitive first round. Pep settled in after that, to build a large lead with his boxing skill. Pep wobbled Lewis with a left hook to the jaw in the 8th round, and then sent him to the canvas with a follow-up flurry. After Lewis rose on his second attempt, he was pummeled by Pep, until the referee intervened.
