Sugar Ramos 138 lbs lost to Cesar Sinda 137 lbs by TKO at 2:31 in round 10 of 10

"Africa's Cesar Sinda spoiled former world featherweight champion Sugar Ramos' comeback attempt in the lightweight division by stopping the ex-champ in the last round. Ramos took an early command of the bout, connecting with quick rights and straight lefts. Sinda never gave ground and was always on the attack. Both fighters were hurt often, but neither could score a knockdown. Ramos started the 10th round ahead on all judges' cards. Both boxers started tossing heavy punches and Sinda, after complaining of a low blow, came back strong with numerous bombs to Ramos' head and pinned him into the corner. There he continued the attack freely with both hands. At 2:31 referee John Thomas stopped the bout when Ramos could not protect himself from the barrage of Sinda punches." -Pasadena Star-News

  • This bout was a co-feature shared with a 10 rounder between Ruben Navarro and Tony Jumao-as.
  • Sinda claimed a 15-3-2 record entering this bout.
  • Ramos had been scheduled to fight world lightweight champ Ken Buchanan at the Forum on May 22 in a non-title, but the bout was scuttled due to the 30 day suspension Ramos incurred from the stoppage.
