- Referee: Dave Brown
"Canadian heavyweight champion George Chuvalo knocked out Johnny Featherman of Phoenix, Ariz., at 1:35 of the 1st round of a scheduled 12 round non-title bout Saturday night. Both fighters came out fast at the opening bell and were feeling each other out with short lefts. Chuvalo waited until the one minute mark to throw his first right. Into the second minute, Chuvalo caught his opponent on the chin with a power-packed left jab, then tagged him with a hard right on the way down. Featherman went to his knees, then sprawled into a neutral corner. Featherman was on his way up at 'eight' and referee Dave Brown began cleaning off his gloves. The two fighters faced each other, but Brown stepped between them and declared the fight was over before another punch was thrown." -Canadian Press
