- Griffin developed a cut in the corner of his left eye in Round 2 from an accidental headbutt.
- Griffin began to let his hands go in Rounds 3 through 5 and seemed to be in control of the fight.
- Griffin warned in Round 6 for a low blow.
- An accidental headbutt at 1:05 of Round 8 opened a cut over the right eye of Easley. At 2:03 of the same round, referee John Callas paused the action to bring in a doctor to view the cut. Easley could be heard on the telecast telling the doctor and referee that he could not see out of the eye. Thus, the fight had to be ended.
