Demetrius Andrade 154 lbs beat Freddy Hernandez 154 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Demetrius Andrade dropped Freddy Hernandez in the sixth round and cruised to a unanimous and shutout decision win in the main event in Huntington, New York.

Fighting for the first time under new trainer Virgil Hunter, Andrade proved too quick and too rangy for Hernandez, who looked to get on the inside, but struggled to avoid his opponent's attack.

A right hand from Andrade, who was temporarily fighting in an orthodox stance, sent Hernandez down to all fours a little over a minute into Round 6. Hernandez got to his feet and was allowed some 30 seconds to recover after losing his mouthpiece. Andrade stung his opponent again in the final seconds of Round 9 with a right uppercut that buckled Hernandez's legs.

  • Demetrius Andrade 18-0 (13 KOs) vs. Freddy Hernandez 30-3 (20 KOs)

  • Hernandez, a 14-to-1 betting underdog, entered with a record of 1-2 in his previous three bouts, with losses to Erislandy Lara and Andre Berto and a win over Luis Collazo. [1]
