Carlos Ortiz 138 lbs lost to Kenny Lane 137 lbs by MD in round 10 of 10

"Kenny Lane of Muskegon, Mich., won a majority decision over Carlos Ortiz of New York in a close 10 round bout at Miami Beach Auditorium Wednesday night. There were no knockdowns and neither fighter was in serious trouble. It was a battle between two skilled boxers all the way. Ortiz in the early rounds showed he knew how to handle Lane's southpaw style, getting over a good straight right often. The New York battler seemed to be the stronger in the early rounds, as Lane danced and jabbed and steered clear of the close infighting. Lane's left eye was cut in the 6th round and bled the remainder of the fight. The last two rounds won the fight for the slick-boxing southpaw. He carried the fight to Ortiz, and landed his best punch of the fight, a whistling left in the 9th." -Associated Press
