According to the Nov. 1, 1913 TACOMA DAILY NEWS of Tacoma, WA, Jackson started his career in Seattle 1898, where he defeated Harry Jones, Arthur Walker, and Harris Martin (the Black Pearl). He then went to California.

Inducted into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame. His real name was Sim Thompkins.
