Who is dead?

Post by allInmoderationAIM »

The whole world knows Muhammad Ali has died! The entire world knows Joe Frazier has died! All Boxing people pretty much know Ron Lyle has died. Who doesn't know that Ken Norton has died? Willie Pep was a major icon. You would think their isn't too too many who DO NOT KNOW he's GONE? But...Humanity is thick. Boxing has many players. I bet not all that many know really that, Sinan Samil Sam is dead. 31(16)-4(0)-0 career died on Oct. 30, 2015 age 41.
Brett Lally the first pro to defeat John Scully too is GONE.
Their are others. Others whom we all know that YOU, that I..don't yet realize.
So this is going to prompt me to look more at that list. I mean, I'll revisit the BoxRec lists. And go over them more comprehensively this time. And then only leave them alone again!
Long life to all the good acting FOLK!

I didn't know about Sam. He died last year from liver failure, age 41. Was that caused by punches?

Edwin Valero, Vernon Forrest, Corrie Sanders, Johnny Tapia, Diego Corrales. All common knowledge but pretty shocking. I loved Johnny Tapia and was genuinely gutted when he passed.

Edwin Valero was a crazy little bastard!

I think Jack Dempsey might be dead.

I'm pretty sure Stanley Ketchel is too

Arturo Gatti, Alexis Arguello, Carmen Basilio

The majority of fighters from the 30's, 40's and 50's have passed I would imagine. Though Jake Lamotta and Gene Fullmer are still kicking as far as I know.

Many of the great boxers from previous centuries have died too, like John L. Sullivan.

Corrie Sanders was murdered. I think that he could have been the best heavyweight of them all if he had trained like he did for the Wlad fight, but he hated training. I believe that Edwin Valero was also murdered, in that jail cell.

I thought he done himself in? Was there suggestion of some skullduggery?

Trained like he did for the Wlad fight? He was chubby and not in peak shape against Wlad as well. He just caught him early before he ever had a chance to get tired. He was in better shape when he lost to Rahman.

You're talking about Valero, and yes that was the official story, but I've seen the evidence and I don't believe it.

Watch the 2 fights, look at Sanders' physique closely, and reconsider this opinion.

Valero murdered himself, the same mentality that would have gotten his ass kicked in the ring if he wasn't a worthless pos.

The uncrowned Heavyweight champion, Wilt Chamberlain, is dead. Though he is alive and well in Kalan's fantasies of gay love.

Didn't know that. I knew it was about time for him to go though. All of those guys are up there in age. Jake Lamotta's been whipping Father Time's ass for decades now.

My parakeet died... he stuck his head between the bars on his cage and committed suicide after I read him a couple of Kalan posts.

Alas, he was a good bird. One that flew right and true, over tiny distances of course. But even the animal kingdom, when subjected to such treacherous and borderline criminal acts of savagery said "Kalan" murders the senses with, death seems like a viable option. I have no doubt the good Lord forgave him and he is chirping fantastically in his new home above. The bad man can't hurt you anymore chirp chirp.

I one time read a false report of death of Jake LaMotta. Years before I ever went to computers thus..long before I realized the entity of BOXREC. For several years I thought Jake LaMotta had died.
He is in fact yet going strong at 92 or 93.
Yes Gene Fullmer died the recent. Carmen Basilio too.
I haven't relooked at that section of BOXREC quiet yet.

I think going strong is overstating it, he's got dementia now.

Sorry? What does that mean?

I'm saying that having dementia is not going strong, even at 92-93 years of age, it's not going strong at any age if you're brain has turned to mush. Sorry if that appears pedantic, but the reality is, he's totally fucked.

Oh, sorry. I only meant that at his age (92+) and being ex boxer at his level that he would be hurt some. What else do you know about his condition.
I met Jake one time.
