JOE FRAZIER VS ROCKY MARCIANO....
JOE FRAZIER VS ROCKY MARCIANO....
What a war this would be!.... the Joe Frazier of 1971 would have too much for Rocky... too much power and speed....... Frazier would take charge before Rocky could get into his stride and win by ko in about 3 to 5 rounds.....

This is a good one. My man, BrocktonBlockbuster, probably isn't going to like your analysis too well. But I can see your scenario playing itself out.
I do think this would be like a couple bears fighting over the last salmon in the stream. Couple of punching machines running headlong into each other. I know every pick against Marciano is liable to start a 90-post argument about how ridiculous it is that anyone would think Frazier stood a chance. I myself like both fighters, but I favor Frazier here again because he was just a tiny bit bigger, yet equally tenacious and maybe even a little bit faster puncher.

FIRST OF ALL THIS FIGHT WILL GO 15 ROUNDS OR TILL THE LATER ROUNDS SO THATS FOOLISH THAT U COULD THINK A SLOW STARTER LIKE FRAZIER COULD KNOCK OUT A GOOD CHINNED MARCIANO IN EARLY ROUNDS.
might i add, i have never seen silkov pick marciano over anyone. as far as im concerned, silkov does not like marciano and thinks hes the most overated heavyweight of all time.
NOW, u will not win the arguement over whos a big puncher. do u know why??? because frazier had a lot of power in one hand??? but so did marciano. marciano's suzie Q was a lot like fraziers left hook in different aspects. now we look at the other hand. frazier was useless with his right hand, and marciano had a decent left hook. WHICH MEANS MARCIANO HAD MORE TWO FISTED POWER THNA FRAZIER, HE COULD HURT U AND KNOCK U OUT WITH BOTH HANDS UNLIKE FRAZIER.
2nd frazier had only 20lbs on marciano. 20 lbs?? and 1 " ???? if u use size as an exuse for marciano to lose then u have no case. 20 lb and 1'' in the heavyweight division is nothing.
was frazier stronger??? im not so sure about that.
my prediction: this fight will go at least 12 rounds if not more. i give marciano the edge cause of the two fisted power. remember fraziers left hook looped alot , and marciano always had a knack for getting in his overhand or inside right hand over the left hook. i think this could help marciano knock out frazier. if the throws the short power inside punch inside fraziers left hook he could knock out frazier.
marciano and frazier both never stopped throwing punches, anmd both the best body punchers ever. the fact that marciano could hurt u with both hands will get him signifant advatnage in a toe to toe slug out.
frazier faced better competetion????? how bout this, did he ever face a guy like rocky marciano???? answer: NO.
IN fairness, marciano never faced a guy liek frazier.
i hate to pick a winner between thse two, whom i both respect and love a lot. both are greta champion and all time great heayweights. but i was defending marciano ni this case since silkov seemed to think rocky will be no match, and he underats rockys ability to win. THIS WILL BE A CLOSE FIGHT.
my prediction: marciano close decision. he lands the bigger blows and hurts frazier a little more, while also recieving punishment from the fist of frazier.

My analysis of the fight is that Rocky was a slow starter and Frazier in his prime was a fast starter... in a few of his bouts Rocky was hurt or dropped early... styles make fights... a fast starting Frazier could steamroll Rocky imo. Rocky could perhaps get into the later rounds but I still see Frazier winning by a late stoppage or ko.

well marciano was a more powerful two fisted puncher.
and wasnt frazier dropped by bonavena twice?? and by micheal bruce?? and he was almost dropped by manuel ramos and when he did face a power puncher, foreman destroyed him. besides foroeman, frazier never faced a puncher like marciano. if marciano were to land hard on him or land a barrage of punches on him frazier would be stopped.
how could u say frazier had the style to beat marciano. he never faced a marciano. and i dont think he did have the style to beat marciano.
u cant just come out of the corner and beat and knock out marciano, foreman had the strenttgh power and style to do that against marciano but frazier didnt.
marciano was never close to being knocked out.

i can definetly see marciano giving ali too hard fights. marciano would do a lot of damage to alis body and arms and his non stop punching would earn aggrson points and ali wouldnt be able to land hi jab cleany with marciano in a crouch.
u forget, frazier fought one style. marciano could fight many styles whether it be bobing and weaving , in a crouch, etc

Its hard for me to make this a one fight matchup. When I think of this matchup I see a trilogy. First fight would be a late rounds KO win for Marciano while trailing on points, the rematches won convincingly by Frazier by stoppages.
But if I had to pick a result from only one matchup, I see Frazier by mid rounds TKO. Frazier was just too quick, strong, and overall more skilled than Marciano. Frazier would undoubtable be knocked down, but he always got back up.
BB, I know you like Marciano, and I agree he was a top ten all time heavy, but these all time matchups are not in his favor. I can't think of a top heavy besides Norton, Patterson, possibly Frazier, and possibly Tyson (Marciano's unwillingness to back down could be a major factor) that he could beat.
Louis, Ali, Liston, Dempsey, Holmes, Johnson, and many others would beat him in my opinion. He just had too many flaws and just can't match up. I respect the man and his accomplishments, but these matchups do not favor him. He would be outboxed by the boxers and outpunched by the bigger, stronger punchers.
He just is one of those great fighters who were great in their eras but just can't match up with other great fighters in a matchup.

The Frazier of 3/8/71 beats Marciano...any other Frazier has a rock solid (no pun intended) 50% chance, if not better...Frazier was far more relentless, far more active, and far more accurate than Rocky...and his left hook was unreal...and that is not 'disrespecting' Marciano...Rocky missed a lot, many times with the guy standing right in front of him...Frazier used to say, early in his career, that he tried to pattern himself after Henry Armstrong, who never stopped punching...Frazier would throw more punches, guaranteed...Frazier never lost to a guy his size or smaller...If Joe Frazier would have lived in Rocky's time...he would be 49-0 too...If Marciano had to fight Frazier's opponents, he never would have finished undefeated...never would have handled Foreman or past his prime Ali even once...

I would have to pick Marciano.
Frazier was faster and had the better left hook.
But Rocky's stamina was even better and was the harder two handed puncher.
Ironically I like Frazier's chances against most all time great HWs moreso then Rocky, but in a head to head his style would be countered by the just as vicious, relentless Marciano.
Marciano TKO 14.

I'll stick to what I stated a week ago about this match up...
Frazier and the Rock...flip a coin. Both came forward banging. Both had great stamina. Both had power. Rock had it in both hands (like you said), but Joe had better upper body movement and hand speed. In the end both guys would get banged up and both guys are a great match. I say if they fought twice they would both win one.

With the coming of digital graphics to the point they say they will be able to recreate Elvis, Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne and put them back in the Movies. I would nominate this fight as the first work to be done in computer sport graphics.
This is the fight of all fights that I would wish to see if I were King. Neither fighter would be the same after this encounter. They both would likely leave most of what they once were in the ring where they faced each other. This would be deadly dangerous for both of these guys. I can't pick a winner though I would lean to Frazier.
Can anyone think of a more brutal combination of fighters? Was Greb big enough to be in a three way round robin with these two guys? Just curious.
Oh and who in this case would have who backing up? That question completely eludes me. Did either ever take a step backwards?

Frazier beats Marciano, and wouldnt have too much trouble doing it either. The Rock was lucky to fight in the era tht he did. Frazier would have absolutely destroyed Charles, Moore and Walcott. If the Rock fought in Fraziers and Ali's era he would be the equivilent of Jerry Quarry; not because they both were whiite, but they were both powerful brawlers with underrated boxing skills, great hearts and tender skin. Very good, but not good enough to be the very best in the division at the time.
