"..One of the rawest deals ever received by a visiting fighter..Woods won by a city block" (The Ring, December 1939, page 53.) The fight almost ended in the first round when the acting club physician ordered it stopped because of a cut over Woods' left eye. After considerable confusion, the Deputy Commissioner got the fight started again. It was an even fight until Woods scored a knockdown in round four, after which he administered a trouncing to DeJohn who, himself, admitted that it was a bad decision.
