Reagan and Dempsey fought in two locations, reached by tug on the shore of Long Island Sound. After 15 minutes of fighting, a rising tide at the site of the bout forced the spectators and fighters to move 25 miles away. Reagan's seconds tossed in the sponge after the 44th round. Dempsey's leg ripped open by Reagan's spiked shoes. Dempsey blamed Reagan's trainer Mike Donovan for the spiking. Brooklyn Daily Eagle | |||||||||
