Mansfield had a fourteen pound weight advantage.

Blackburn won easily. (Chicago Tribune) The Philadelphia Item also reported that Blackburn won. The next day Jack Blackburn's brother, Fred Blackburn, slashed Jack's throat, but the injury was superficial. On the following January 12, Blackburn shot and killed another man (Alonzo Polk), and also shot the man's wife, jailed for 15 years he served just 5, being released in 1914. Blackburn went on to train Joe Louis.

Most reporting papers had Mansfield winning in a poor fight. The Argus of Albany, NY reported due to the small attendence Mansfield refused to fight 6 rounds. Hitte took no money in order to get Mansfield to go on at all and Mansfield stalled through four rounds.. From all these write ups it appears that Mansfield won the newspaper decision.
