Forbes Field, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Pittsburgh Post gave it to Greb 6-3-1. The Pittsburgh Gazette-Times scored for Greb 6-2-2. Gibbons spent so much defending himself that he landed comparatively few blows, but those were crisp and to the mark. Gibbons was so well-covered that Greb's blows mostly caught him on the cheekbones. Greb payed little attention to defense. At long range, Gibbons mainly tried to evade the unrelenting fusilade of blows sent his way. Inside, he did very well. The first round was even. The second was big for Greb who had Gibbons spitting blood. Greb won a close third round and Gibbons did his best work to win the 4th. Greb won the 5th and 6th and hurt Gibbons with a vicious left in the latter round. The 7th was slow, with Gibbons getting a shade. He also took the 8th and Greb finished up fast and took the last two rounds.

According to Jack Kincaid, all four Brooklyn newspapers selected Bartfield as the winner. The New York Sun reported Gibbons as the winner 6-1-1915. The Buffalo Commercial states Gibbons as winner. The New York Times said "Bartfield earned a Draw" 6-1-1915. The Buffalo Enquirer reported "Solider Bartfield earns Draw with Mike Gibbons" 6-1-1915. The Buffalo Courier reported the result as a Draw. The New York Tribune reported a win for Gibbons printing, "Solider Bartfield held Mike Gibbons to a close decision, and although out-pointed by a fair margin, was hailed by the crowd for his brave showing." 6-1-1915. Pittsburg Post reported a Draw. The Pittsburgh Press printed a New York report on 6-1-15 "Opinion was divided on the result of the Mike Gibbons-Solider Bartfield bout here this afternoon. Of the 8 morning papers, four give the verdict to Gibbons, two to Bartfield, and two call it a draw. The Associated Press declares it a draw, and the International News Service gives the fight to Gibbons." Technically speaking, this should be a newspaper win for Gibbons, but since there is not enough consensus among even New York writers to give either boxer a newspaper decision win the result should be a Draw.

"Mike Gibbons won in a decisive fashion from Gus Christie. The local boy grabbed the decision in seven rounds, three being declared even. Both men finished fast. Lefts to the face served Mike in good stead. Christie seemed unable to get away from a blow of that nature and was repeatedly put to flight with a rain of pelts. His straight left was his only method of attack and with it he forced Gibbons to the ropes on several occasions. His failure to use it more may have altered the decision of several rounds."
